pacifier vs language development

salam..

masa i jalan2 mencari info about breastfeeding tadi, i accidentally bump into this interesting topic about pacifier a.k.a puting untuk baby..

honestly, i'm not really familiar nor understand about the function of these pacifier apatah lagi its negative side effects sebab none of my siblings pakai puting ni..but its quite common to see babies with pacifier at their mouth wherever we go..

masa i sekolah rendah dulu, i ada 1 kawan yang bergigi "jongos" disebabkan dia diberi pacifier sejak kecik (i know because we grew up together)..so, since then, i memang rasa kesian kalau tengok baby yang pakai pacifier sebab i thought they will have the same problem bila besar nanti..actually, masa tu i pun x tau setakat mana kebenaran my thoughts tu..but after checking these websites (1, 2, 3) dah terbukti laa i punyer pendapat tuh..

dah tentu we all sumer x nak our kiddo punyer gigi jadi cam these pacifier's design right?? pastu bila dah besar, nak kena pakai braces pulak..

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!! ;-)

so, kenapa nak berbelanja mahal2 (pakai braces) sedangkan kita tahu perkara tu boleh dielakkan..rite?? pandai jek i ni cakap kan??macam ler gigi i ni cantik sangat...huhuhu

other than tooth misalignment, a research done in University of Washington found that kids who are using pacifier is having problem with their linguistic ability (lambat bertutur, masalah sebutan etc) compared to those who were breastfeeded alone..

dan banyak lagi laa side effects of pacifier usage like:

• slow weight gain
• middle ear infection
• poor lips seals
• poor breathing technique (use mouth instead of nose to breath)

so, for mommy & mommy-to-be out there which i'm sure always wanting the best for your kids, make an informed decision yek..
